Charles Duhigg's The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business is climbing up bestseller lists right now, and for good reason. Plato's line that "Character is simply habit long continued" does a good job of summarizing why it makes sense to pay attention to our habits. Duhigg takes it from there and actually shows you how to understand and remake them.
Here's a short video in which he talks about a habit of his own, one that he broke, which seems to have inadvertently led to him writing this book.
