Topping our own Jeff VanderMeer (nominated for Finch) as well as gatherer-of-all-prizes China Mieville, Paolo Bacigalupi led the list of winners of the 2009 Nebula Awards announced over the weekend (suitably at Cape Canaveral), winning the Best Novel prize for The Windup Girl. Here's the full list of winners:
- Novel: The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi
- Novella: The Women of Nell Gwynne's by Kage Baker (first edition now unavailable for less than $100 on our site)
- Novelette: "Sinner, Baker, Fabulist, Priest; Red Mask, Black Mask, Gentleman, Beast" by Eugie Foster (in Interzone, Feb. 2009)
- Short Story: "Spar" by Kij Johnson (in Clarksworld, Oct. 2009)
- Ray Bradbury Award (for best dramatic production): District 9
- Andre Norton Award (for young adult SF/F): The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente (available as a free online novel)
- Grand Master: Joe Haldeman
- Author Emeritus: Neal Barrett Jr.
