Books are such a powerful medium. Sometimes with all of the technology that has come in the last century it is easy to forget how revolutionary the printing press was. Books are not going away and Shelfari is here to make your experience with books even better!!
Why do I love Shelfari? I love it for three reasons.
You are what you read!
Express yourself through your book collection! Why just show off the books you identify with in your living room when you can post them on-line for all your friends to see them when they want too!
Listen to your friends!
Most of us buy a book because someone we know recommends it to us. Shelfari makes this easier by linking you with your friends and their bookshelves on the Internet. All done on your own time whenever you feel like exploring the world of books.
A good book demands a Response!
Love it. Hate it. Books are crying for two way interactivity. Shelfari is a great place to rant and rave about why you couldn't put a book down. Or if you can do the world a service and save your friends from wasting their time!
Happy Reading!
Josh
I took all the time to import my library into Delicious Library and I don't want to do it again. Please email your users when the import feature is enabled.

I saw an article in the newspaper on Shelfari, and I just had to check it out. I actually don't own many books and get them at the library instead, so maybe it would be nice if there was another section for books we have read and do not own. And another thought I had was a book wish list (for those we want to read and/or buy). Thanks for the new service, and I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

This is EXACTLY what I was wishing I had yesterday. THANK YOU.
A feature you may want to add is to mark a book in your collection checked out to someone (and when/by whom info) so you don't have to export the spreadsheet to track such things.
THANKS!

Okay, so I found a place to note that it is lent out. Awesome!

It's a good site, I like it. Is it possible to find someone who has the same book as you in a specific search though?

Hi, this is a great service, I was looking for something like it yesterday, and after looking at several services on ProgrammableWeb I saw yours. Great design...delicious eye-candy! I have an idea for the engineers: an option that'd be nice to have is when you click on a book, if besides "buy from Amazon" if you could have "find at local library" and be able to do a search from a list of local libraries. To get ideas you could check out this site: http://www.amitgupta.info/E41ST/ which gives users the option of a primary local library, and a secondary library too.
Thanks!
