Responding to feedback

We'd like to thank all of you for the feedback we've received since our launch last week!  The overall tone has been very positive with a good mix of suggestions thrown in.  We're trying hard to reply promptly because we want you to have the best experience possible on Shelfari and also because we love to hear from you -- it helps us determine what we can improve and how better to serve the growing community!

Along these lines we've made a few commonly-requested updates:

• If you change the book cover size or sort order on a shelf it will be remembered when you view other shelves.  (This was one of the most-popular suggestions.)
• Two new sort orders: sort by star rating or by the number of opinions written about a book. Now you can more-easily see everyone's favorites or the most-popular books on their shelves.
• When you're signed in you'll see a link to "My Shelf" at the top of the page next to "Explore." This makes it easier to get back to your bookshelf from anywhere in Shelfari.

More changes are in the pipeline in response to your feedback, so please keep sending it in!

We got "Dugg"

Yesterday at about 2:00pm we learned first-hand what getting "Dugg" means ;)

We'd also like to thank John Cook at the Seattle PI for the great article on the front page of the Business section.  (The graphic on the PI's front page was a pleasant surprise!)

Whether you're from our home town of Seattle or from another corner of the world we want to say welcome.  Your zeal and excitement has given us the energy to make sure we don't fall down! :)  We appreciate your patience as we work through these few minor growing pains -- we think the worst is over; searching is getting faster but still has room to improve.

Because of the traffic yesterday we had to temporarily disable our library import feature.  Import is back now!  It still takes some time to process all those books, but I know many of you are itchin' to get your full libraries in.  Go for it!!!

Welcome to Shelfari!

Books are such a powerful medium.  Sometimes with all of the technology that has come in the last century it is easy to forget how revolutionary the printing press was.  Books are not going away and Shelfari is here to make your experience with books even better!!

Why do I love Shelfari?  I love it for three reasons.

You are what you read!

Express yourself through your book collection!  Why just show off the books you identify with in your living room when you can post them on-line for all your friends to see them when they want too!

Listen to your friends!

Most of us buy a book because someone we know recommends it to us.  Shelfari makes this easier by linking you with your friends and their bookshelves on the Internet.  All done on your own time whenever you feel like exploring the world of books.

A good book demands a Response!

Love it.  Hate it.  Books are crying for two way interactivity.  Shelfari is a great place to rant and rave about why you couldn't put a book down.  Or if you can do the world a service and save your friends from wasting their time!
